KATHMANDU.Today, as we gather to celebrate NRN Day, my heart swells with pride as a member of the Non-Resident Nepali Association (NRNA). This day isn’t just another date on the calendar; it’s a heartfelt reminder of the incredible journey we’ve embarked on together. Regardless of where we find ourselves in the world, we are united by a profound love for our homeland, Nepal. Our collective efforts to contribute to our country’s growth exemplify the power of unity, resilience, and commitment.

Since its inception in 2003, the NRNA has tirelessly worked to connect Nepalis across the globe. Together, we have made significant contributions in vital areas such as disaster relief, healthcare, education, and infrastructure development. These efforts showcase the unwavering dedication of Nepalis abroad to uplift both our homeland and the global Nepali community. Every story, every initiative, every act of kindness reinforces the belief that we can make a difference.

Unity is our greatest strength. In an ever-changing world filled with uncertainties, our togetherness will help us navigate challenges and support one another. NRN Day is not just a moment for reflection; it’s an opportunity to envision a future brimming with possibilities. As we celebrate, let’s commit to working hand in hand to ensure that future generations inherit a stronger and more prosperous Nepal.

As I serve as the Deputy General Secretary of the NRNA International Coordination Committee (ICC), I’ve had the privilege of witnessing the extraordinary potential within our global Nepali community. The NRNA’s mission has always been clear: to unite Nepalis worldwide, protect their interests, and harness their diverse talents to drive Nepal’s development. Together, we’ve built a vital platform for Nepali migrants to collaborate, advocate, and take meaningful action that benefits our diaspora and our homeland.

Looking ahead, I believe the key to shaping a brighter and more prosperous Nepal lies in focusing on critical sectors like tourism, education, technology, and sustainable development. With the right investments and collaboration, we can continue to make a difference—not only for Nepal but for the global communities we now call home.

The Non-Resident Nepali Association was founded with a heartfelt mission: to unite Nepalis abroad while nurturing strong ties with our beloved Nepal. We realized that the skills, resources, and influence of our diaspora could be pivotal in the development of our country. From day one, the NRNA has worked on initiatives in tourism, disaster relief, education, and infrastructure, partnering with the Government of Nepal to support national projects and disaster recovery efforts.

Thanks to the mobilization of our global Nepali community, the NRNA’s impact has been profound. By collaborating with the government and various organizations, we have forged a crucial link between the diaspora and Nepal, driving initiatives that uplift both our communities.

As we look to the future, it’s essential for the NRNA to continue strengthening its role as a driving force for Nepal’s development. By fostering closer collaboration with the Government of Nepal, we can address key areas such as tourism, trade, and education more effectively. Advocating for policies that facilitate investment, business opportunities, and land ownership for NRNs will unlock new avenues for growth and development.

Creating investment platforms is vital, especially as we aim to support infrastructure, energy, and education projects in Nepal. Public-private partnerships between NRNs and local businesses could be the catalyst for sustainable economic development. By leveraging the skills and expertise of our diaspora, we can modernize industries and enhance productivity, helping Nepal compete on a global scale.

Tourism remains one of Nepal’s strongest sectors, and the NRNA can play a leading role in promoting Nepal as a top global destination. By working closely with embassies and tourism boards, we can attract international visitors, boosting not only the tourism industry but also the economy as a whole.

Engaging within our NRN community is equally important. Strengthening regional chapters and fostering open, transparent communication will deepen connections among members. By establishing a mentorship network to support new migrants, we can create lasting bonds between NRNs and Nepal, reinforcing our sense of belonging.

Education and skill development are the cornerstones of Nepal’s future. By establishing scholarship programs and training initiatives for Nepali students and professionals, in collaboration with international institutions, we can equip the next generation with the tools they need to thrive.

In all our endeavors, sustainability must be at the forefront. Encouraging eco-friendly investments and promoting clean energy projects will ensure that Nepal’s development is not only swift but also responsible. Corporate social responsibility initiatives can further support healthcare, education, and environmental protection, enhancing the lives of people across Nepal.

The issue of dual citizenship remains a significant concern for NRNs around the world. Continued advocacy for dual citizenship will enable NRNs to maintain strong ties to Nepal while actively participating in its development. Moreover, providing legal support to NRNs on property ownership and investment will foster a more welcoming environment for their involvement.

As we celebrate NRN Day, let us renew our commitment to unity, collaboration, and service to the global Nepali community. Our strength lies in our togetherness, and through our continued efforts, we can shape a prosperous future for Nepal that benefits us all.

As we reflect on the progress we’ve made and the boundless potential ahead, let’s remember that together, as a global Nepali community, we hold the power to shape Nepal’s future. Through unity, collaboration, and dedication, we can continue to build a prosperous and sustainable Nepal for generations to come. Let’s remain committed to our shared vision and make an even greater impact in the years ahead.
